Important days

  • Homework will be given out on a Friday and must be returned by Wednesday. If your child needs help with their homework, please speak with their class teacher before the return day.
  • Outdoor games is on a Wednesday. Children need to bring PE kit and trainers. Indoor PE is on a Thursday (both classes) and swimming is on a Tuesday (4Y) and Wednesday (4B).

This half term our topic is Ancient Greece, and most of our learning will be linked to this theme. In art, we will be learning sketching and shading techniques, then designing, making and evaluating ancient Greek style pots out of clay. Our English work also links to our topic as we will be reading and writing Greek myths.

Our science unit this term is Living Things and their Habitats, which will include an outing to Cringle Park.

In music lessons, we will be learning to play the recorder. We are also hoping to enter the Young Voices event, where pupils are invited to sing at the Manchester Arena. More information to follow. Our outdoor games sport is basketball. 4B will be focusing on gymnastics in PE and 4Y will be focusing on dance. In PSHE, we will be celebrating our talents and sharing these with each other. In computing, we will be learning how to stay safe online and writing internet blogs.

The main focus of our maths lessons this half term will be place value and written addition and subtraction methods. We will continue to have daily CLIC sessions, where we will practise our mental maths skills. Tuesday is Times Table Award day, so please help your child to practise their times tables, ready for their challenge.
