Governors

Parent Governor Election

A parent governor election will take place from Friday 17th November to Friday 1st December. Texts will be sent out with a link to an electronic voting paper. The candidates for election are below along with their statement.

Candidate Statement

Salman Aktar (Parent of Rehaan 3B & Zeeshan Aktar NY)

As an enthusiastic parent with 2 children attending this school and as a professional I am passionate about education and how it equips children for the future. Being a governor will give me an opportunity to be part of the decision making of various key areas that shape and effects this highly reputable school. If I became a school governor I would ensure parents would be represented and resources were fully utilised. I have extensive experience of working within the children’s and families services. I have worked with various teams across local authorities in a number of job roles such as Family Support Worker, Youth Worker, Children’s Home Manager, Youth Offending Team Officer, SEN Project Manager and currently a commissioning officer for social care. The experience I have gained from my career and as a parent would make me a credible candidate.

Udnan Ali (Parent of Danyal 1B & Sara Ali NY)

I am keen to learn more about the education provided by the school in our local community. My eldest is in Y1 having been at the school since Nursery and my daughter has just started Nursery. My nieces are in Y4 & 5 having been at the school since Nursery. As a result I have a good deal of knowledge on what the school has provided in the past several years in terms of education and the challenges faced. Personally I am passionate about getting involved as a parent governor to help achieve the best school experience for our local children to given them the best start in life. I am a qualified accountant working in the financial services sector for the last 15 years. Having worked in large multinationals I am now at a local business using the experience gained over my professional career. A great part of my job has been the need to deliver the service expected by the client and the ability to explain things in a clear and concise way. There is a need to go beyond the usual number crunching to give honest advice. I feel my skills would allow me to evaluate all information to consider options with the board in ensuring we deliver the best possible results and maximizing our resources.

Aasma Hussain (Parent of Ibraheem Fiaz RY)

I would love to be a governor at Acacias CPS as my son is in Reception and I have grown up in the area. I want to support the school in any way I can as I want the best for my child and the children of our community. I believe in taking an active role in the development of the school to achieve outstanding success. I believe Acacias CPS is an excellent school and with further development the sky is the limit. I am a pharmacist and a manager by profession. I have ample experience in successfully working within a team. Achieving targets, working within budgets and striving for excellence is second nature to me. Interacting with the local community in order to promote healthier lifestyles is part of my day job, but I truly believe this starts at a young age and education is the key. I am easy to approach due to being multilingual (English, Urdu and Punjabi), there will be a diverse range of parents that could communicate to me.

Mehreen Qazi (Parent of Zainab Qazi 6B)

I am applying for the post of parent governor at Acacias Community Primary School as I want to play a positive role in improving the relationship between the school, parents and the wider community – being an educationist (teacher) myself, I want to contribute to the ethos of the school and engage parents in order to maintain a positive environment and work towards school improvement targets.

As a parent of a current pupil and a bright former student along with my expertise in the field of education for the past 5 years, I have a clear understanding of the policies, procedures and daily working in primary schools. I am a confident speaker with great attention to detail enhanced by my training as a primary school teacher. Having excellent organizational and time management skills I have a track record of finishing assigned tasks along with excellent communication skills. I fluently speak four languages which will be an added bonus.

The primary purpose of a governing body is to ensure the quality of education provision and to act as the accountable body for the school. The governing body has responsibility for ensuring  good conduct and high standards of educational achievement in the school.
